Dear Sir or Madam,

From where we stand, Berlin-Brandenburg is a formative force shaping the future of health. And we have ample reason to hold the region surrounding the nation’s capital in such high esteem.

Change is becoming the new normal in times of the coronavirus crisis. Aside from fears and uncertainties, there is also a willingness to do things differently and – above all – to do better. New solutions are very much in demand, particularly in the health sector. Today, more than ever, growth and prosperity depend on innovators’ ability to deliver groundbreaking advances and new business models, products and services that create value, benefit health and enhance quality of life. All this is sure to leave us better prepared for change and primed for the future!

A tailwind of fiscal policy is blowing our way. Strengthening the healthcare system and health sector is a big part of the European Commission's reconstruction plan and the German government’s stimulus package. Investments in key technologies, research and the digital transformation are providing impetus to this end, as is a funding program for hospitals.

With so many diverse players and such a varied skill set, the Health Industry Cluster has what it takes to build on this momentum. Berlin-Brandenburg is an excellent position to set new standards in life sciences and healthcare. This is one of the benchmarks of our new master plan. It sets the priorities we want to address next and maps out the structures by which we will pursue these aims – all in service of the future of health!

Be sure to read the current issue of newsletter to learn more about the latest events in the Cluster.

With kind regards
Peter Albiez
